FUNERAL SERVICE AT GRAND FALLS
John N. Vasseur Was Member of Town Council For 20 Years
GRAND FALLS, July 4 - (Special) - The funeral of John N. Vasseur, well known resident of this town who died a few days ago was held from Assumption Church Saturday morning with Rev. Father Lang officiating.
Mr. Vasseur was a son of the late James and Severene Vasseur and was born here on Sept. 3, 1877. He was an employee of the O. B. Davis Company for many years and had been a member of the Grand Falls town council for the past 20 years. He served as chairman of various town committees and had been chairman of the fire committee for a number of years.
Surviving are his wife, and eleven children, Jesse, Thomas and William, Grand Falls: Sergeant Stephen, with the R.C.A.F. in Newfoundland; L.-Cpr. Francis, Debert; Mrs. Sadie Britton, East Foxboro, Mass.; Mrs. Pearl Rice, Mexico, Maine; Miss Carrie, of Boston, Mass./ Mrs. Edmund St. Pierre, Van Buren, Maine; Constance and Isabelle, at home, and one brother, William J., Grand Falls.
The funeral was attended by all Mr. Vasseur's children except Sgt. Stephen Vasseur who was unable to be present. The members of the fire department of the town marched in a body from the home to the church and from the church to the new Catholic cemetery where interment took place.
Pallbearers were four sons, Thomas, Jesse, William and Francis, William Deschene and Edmund St. Pierre, a son-in-law.
The floral tributes, mass offerings and spiritual bouquets were numerous and testified to the esteem in which Mr. Vasseur was held.

Funeral Card Friday - John N Vasseur
This is the funeral card of John N Vasseur, my husband's paternal grandfather. He was born 3 Sep 1877 in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, Canada, baptized two days later, and died 30 Jun 1943 in Grand Falls. He was the son of James, aka Jacques Levasseur and Severine Bellefleur. On 29 Oct 1901, in Grand Falls, he married Catherine aka Kate Mallen, and they had thirteen children. Two died in infancy.
